If earth reboots and all species restarted and evolution begins, many of us will be living in the prehistoric ages or even backwards. Will you want that to happen? To hunt like cavemen, run like cavemen? If one could choose, one will probably prefer to live in the modern age where one is already so well adapt to. However, note that we are souls. We may not be cavemen. We may be birds, plants, reptiles etc. What if you are a bird. Will it matter if you live in the prehistoric age or the modern age?
